Every Bella Andre book I've read has been enjoyable. This one is as well. The pages flew past like the wildfires Logan and his crew fought.

Wild Heat is not just a love story or a mystery. It also gives insight into the world of the courageous men who risk their lives to contain and end the destruction wrought by fire in rugged and difficult to access terrain.

The main characters, Logan and Maya, are both strong individuals who find love in the midst of Maya's investigation into the cause of a wildfire raging in the Lake Tahoe area. She has strong reasons to believe that Logan is the one who set that fire.

Six months before this investigation, and after losing her, firefighter, brother in a questionable blaze, Maya is desperate to relieve the unbearable pain of her loss. Totally out of character, she runs miles to a tavern an intends to get drunk. When she arrives to find it will not be open for hours, she pounds on the door until it’s opened by a gorgeous man. She begs him to let her in for a drink. Seeing the beautiful woman's distress, the hunk lets her in. After a few quick drinks and not much conversation, Maya, again out of character, decides that the handsome bartender can also help her forget her pain. She grabs him by the shirt and pulls him in for a kiss. He lifts her over the bar and unchecked passion rules until Maya comes crashing to her senses and breaks down sobbing and apologizes for her actions. She flees the tavern not even knowing the name of the man, nor does he know hers. Six months later, she finds that the stranger who constantly has invaded her dreams is her arson suspect.

I think you'll enjoy finding out what happens between Maya and Logan, as well as solving the mystery yourself. For those who want to avoid explicit sex scenes, look for a different book.

Maya, a arson investigator, losses her brother who was a firefighter. She comes to Tahoe to pack up his apartment. She can't do it so she runs to a Bar and Grill to get drunk. It's not open but the guy there opens and pours her a drink. They start making out but she runs off.
Six months later she returns to investigate the fires burning and meet with her prime suspect. When she sees him, it's the guy she made out with six months ago.
Logan is a hotshot, one of the most respected firefighters there are. They mostly fight forest fires. He is shocked when Maya returns and accuses him of being the arsonist. She suspends him and starts her investigation. The attraction is still strong between them but she's fighting it.
But someone wants her gone. They blew up her hotel room, left a threatening note, put a bomb in Logan's truck, set his house on fire while they were in it. Can they catch the arsonist before more people get hurt or killed?
Great story. Suspense. Mystery. Sex. Fire. Will keep you on the edge of your seat. I felt like I was right there with them. It will have your pulse pounding and the sex is so hot you'll need to sit in front of a fan to cool off.
The blurb of the book is kind of a misdirection. I read the books in the wrong order (I couldn't get this one first). I liked the third one best so far (haven't read the second yet).
Things I liked in this book 1) the plot; 2) the chemistry between the characters; 3) the mystery; 4) secondary characters and overall development, it's quite good considering it's a genre that is often weak in that sense.
Things I didn't like in this book 1) alpha males are fine, but Maya Jackson is an idiot who can't do her work properly because of her hormones... which is terribly disappointing; 2) whenever she's around Logan, he saves her and she never does anything remotely useful; 3) really, this is just a story for him to show off.
I just wish Maya had been a stronger character (not emotionally, on that department she's okay, I guess).

When we meet our Heroine she is emotionally lost. She has lost her father to lung cancer and now her brother to a fire. Both men were Heroes - firefighters and life savers! She has traveled to Lake Tahoe to pack up and clean out her brother’s apartment.

Desperation tore at her. All she wanted was to close her eyes and forget for one second. Somehow, some way, she needed to get away from the pain ripping her in two, needed to forget everything.

Maya decides to drown her sorrows with alcohol and searches for an open bar. The bartender is a large beautiful man that is happy to accommodate her in any way she needs. No names, just forgetfulness.

And then it hit her This stranger was another sign. First the bar appearing at the end of the road, and now a fallen angel sent to help her forget.

Six months later Maya has been sent to investigate a possible arson by a member of the Tahoe Pines Hotshots’. The only problem is it is the stranger she met at the bar six months ago. Is this a conflict of interest on her part? Is this man a Hero or a Villain?

She wanted to believe that a guy with a smile like that-and with a perfect, fifteen-year record-couldn’t set a potentially deadly fire. But as an arson investigator she’d been trained to look for the worst, even when no one else could see it.

The plot twists and turns leading you as the reader to arrive at different answers and to look at all the characters in the story as the possible arsonist. This is a wonderful, fast pace mystery adventure love story. All the way through the novel you are constantly asking “Who really started the fires in the forest and in town?” “Why?” Will the perpetrator be found before another fighter’s life is lost? The answer can be found when you read this novel.

“Do you think you broke anything?” “No” she rasped out, and then coughed hard several times in rapid succession. “We’re not dead, are we?”
