It's official: this is my absolute favorite of the series so far. This story is truly fantastic, in so many ways. I sincerely love the two MCs - everything about them. Separately, they are each wonderful people who I would love to have in my life, and together their chemistry explodes off the page. The story itself flows easily and the big bad makes good sense. Amazing addition to the series. Well done HL!!

So I know the title of the series is Going Royal, but in this case it is about an attorney for the royals, and not an actual royal as the main character. Which honestly, made me like the book more. Let’s face it being royalty isn’t really something I can relate to all that much. Plus I really liked the suspense/build up in this book.

So main character Kate is a military brat (my kid of chick btw), She has a long history of being in the military and is a very capable bodyguard, so when it turns out that the Grand Duke’s friend needs some protection from an unknown threat, it just made perfect sense for him to hire Kate, since he has worked with her before. The catch is that Richard has no idea that Kate is there to protect him, he thinks that she is there to be his new secretary. I really liked Kate, she was just easy to like. She’s sure of herself in her job, and she really take pride in it and enjoys it. I liked that she stuck to her guns, she knew what she thought about things and didn’t faulted. I actually really loved that about her. But what was most interesting about Kate was watching her deal with a situation she wasn’t exactly accustomed too, dealing with her new found emotions for Richard.

I liked Richard as well, he has a more complex backstory I think then Kate. He is an attorney (as I’ve already mentioned) and he does a lot of work for high profile clients. But he does more than just the rich and famous busy work, he also does a lot of pro-bono work for people who wouldn’t be able to afford his help. The reasoning behind this is because he feels guilty about somethings that happened when he was younger, and this is a kind of way for him to feel better about it. He was a good hero for the book, I liked him.

The interactions between Kate and Richard were really nice, they have great chemistry and I thought the build up to the romance was really good. There was a lot of suspense in the build up the romance, which made it all the more better when it finally got there. (Hooray for no instant-love scenarios)!.

This was an easy read for me, I thought the pacing was pretty spot on for the story. I did think that the incident with Kate and Richard towards the end resolves way to quickly, like it didn’t feel true to Kate, but other than that I enjoyed it. I would recommend this book.
This was a very good book ~ I enjoyed the characters ~ Demanding , kind , loving, and giving ~ what more to a story do you want.

Some Like It Deadly is the third romantic suspense book in the Going Royal series written by author Heather Long.
I love Kate and Richard and so wanted to give this give stars, but I hated the skip between him walking out and the wedding. I had to delete the book from my kindle and re download. I had a chapter missing that cleared everything up. I love the book and the characters and look forward to the next one
Ok so now we're on to book 3! I've had a ball with this series. Richard is such ad interesting guy, a bit droll with a dry wit and humor. Kate is his perfect foil. She will keep him on his toes for the rest of his life, I hope he's up for it.

One thing I really enjoy about this series are the female leads. They are all strong, intelligent, witty women. They've all made their own mark in this world. Kate is the warrior, Alyx the survivor, Anna's described as "perfect blend of ingenuity and deviousness" by Richard and it fits.
